If you’re taking a shower in the morning, what should you be doing? Some people hang their head under the water and let it whirl them around until they’re dizzy. Others keep their face in the water, enjoying a nice, long, warm soak. (While this method can be relaxing, it’s not the best way to hydrate, since you’re breathing in the water. You lose more water that way.) If you’re a woman, you might instead choose to close your eyes and let the water soothe you, or even close your eyes and imagine you’re in a warm bath.

There’s nothing like a clean bath or shower to relax after a long day at work. It’s a common activity that you probably take for granted at times. But while you may not think about it, you could be sabotaging your body’s relaxation response by not focusing on a shower or bath for a long time.

Dry brush

Give yourself a detoxifying massage with a dry brush before stepping into the shower. Dry brushing is now trendy in the wellness industry since it aids in the removal of dead skin cells, inflammation, and even cellulite (bonus! ), plus it’s simple and inexpensive to perform. Stroke the brush in a circular motion towards your heart. Start with your feet and legs, then go on to your arms. You’ll feel exfoliated and extremely soft by the time you get into the shower!

Melts in the shower

Shower melts, which are essentially bath bombs for your shower, are the fastest way to feel pampered while bathing. Simply place it near your drain and let it do its work. It will melt as the water flows, filling your shower with soothing eucalyptus vapor. Eucalyptus is excellent for cleaning sinuses after a long day or when you’re feeling congested. This melt is also non-toxic!

Choose the appropriate soap.

You won’t be wallowing in bubble bath, but you may still use a luxurious soap. Because your body has already been exfoliated, now is the time to moisturize it. Allow a mild moisturizing body cleanser, such as this, to absorb into your skin. What’s the greatest thing about showering? You can really rinse away the stuff and walk out feeling squeaky clean!

Spa Music

We all like a good jam session in the shower now and again, but when it’s time to unwind, relaxing music is the way to go. I like listening to any kind of meditation or spa music since it immediately relaxes me. Both Spotify and Pandora offer “spa music” channels that are perfect for calming down.

Oil up

Pat yourself dry once you get out of the shower, then use a body oil to seal in the moisture. This one has a wonderful scent, is non-toxic, and leaves your skin feeling very hydrated. It feels so wonderful to lather yourself with body oil, and your skin will be incredibly soft after you’re done!
