How to Decorate a Bohemian Christmas Tree

Bohemian Christmas trees can be just as stunning as traditional ones, and they’re also a lot easier to put together. Whether you want to go simple or go all out, these trees can add a dose of adventurous design to your holiday decor… and we’re not just talking about the colors. And don’t worry, if you’re clueless about how to put the whole thing together, you’ll find a step-by-step tutorial.

Many people think the Christmas season ends after the fall harvest, but the holiday season can actually begin as early as September. Czechs, for instance, start decorating trees as early as September 15th. This practice is known as “Bohemian” Christmas, and it is a tradition that incorporates many different elements, including flowers, garlands, and lights.

In this blog post, I will be showing you how to decorate an environmentally friendly, natural Bohemian Christmas tree. I will be showing you how to use natural, recycled, eco-friendly, reusable, eco-friendly, and recycled materials when decorating your Christmas tree. I will also be showing you how to make your own natural, eco-friendly, recycled, and recycled materials.

As you can see from previous year’s tree and apartment decorations, I like a bohemian Christmas. And, because this is just my second Christmas with my own tree (we didn’t have one growing up! ), I’m having a lot of fun playing with boho ornaments. I’m not doing things the conventional way, from tassels to dream catchers. That’s just how I like it :). So, if you want to give your Christmas tree a bohemian feel this year, consider these ideas.

1. Use of natural materials

To me, natural textures are key when creating a bohemian look. So that’s where I started. Pine cones first came to mind. Plus, they’re pretty easy to find in the form of ornaments (like these glittered ones). I love the soft & organic texture of cotton, so I bought some faux cotton stems to place around the tree as well. For garland, I hung wooden beads on various areas of the tree. (And another pretty option on sale here!)

2. Ornaments in a boho style

For the ornaments, I tried to really stick to items with that boho vibe. Mini dream catchers are great for that. I also found these adorable tassel ornaments at World Market! How cute are they?? I can’t seem to find them on their website, but they should have them in store. If not, these are super similar. I also love these macrame snowflakes, these wooden snowflakes (also these), and this adorable llama! Geodes are another great bohemian texture, but they’re tough to find in ornament form. So I went to Michaels and found this string of druzy in the jewelry beads section.

3. Distinctive String Lights

While I do use traditional Christmas lights around the tree, I also added some unusual ones to give it a distinct appearance. Urban Outfitters offers some very cool string lights that will give your tree a boho feel. I like these multicolored pom pom string lights and these amazing twinkling lights.

4. Printed Pillows & Rugs

Rather of utilizing a traditional tree skirt, I chose to use a colorful jute mat as my foundation. I put a fake fur blanket over the base of the tree holder to conceal it. I decided to finish off the Christmas tree by stacking all of the boho pillows I had laying around the home around the base. For a distinctive appearance, I combined fake fur cushions with antique kilim pillows.

5. A Standout Topper

Your tree topper is a fun spot to really add some personality to your tree. There are so many options! Last year, I hung a white & gold dream catcher from the top. This year, I wanted something a little more pronounced. I had this vision of a wooden peace sign in my head but I couldn’t seem to find one the right size. So I checked Amazon and found these grapevine wreaths that was the perfect size. I just took some twine and wrapped it around the ring in the shape of a peace sign. To attach it to the tree, I used picture hanging wire and just sort of wrapped it haphazardly until it felt secure.
