DIY Boyfriend Jeans

Have you ever tried DIY jeans but thought you’d have to use your own fabric? Not anymore! Levi’s has launched a new line of easy-to-make jeans that are fully customizable. Just choose the length, waist, and style, and you’re all set.

So you’re starting to feel that special relationship spark and you want to take things to the next level… but your best friend (or worst enemy) told you those DIY jeans are not fashionable and you should get something more expensive. Well, it doesn’t have to be that way! With a little bit of fabric, sewing machine, and patience you can make your own boyfriend jeans that are just as good as the expensive brand.

In my post, I will show you how to sew your own boyfriend jeans without having to buy them, and without having to pay a lot of money for them. I will also share my favourite denim fabrics, as well as the tools I use to sew my boyfriend jeans.

Finding the ideal pair of boyfriend jeans is difficult, and I’m not one to spend a lot of money on torn denim that I might quickly ruin. When it comes to boyfriend jeans, I like slim-fitting styles. Many are a bit too baggy and aren’t the greatest for displaying your figure. I’ve had a pair of bootcut jeans in my drawer for a while and discovered they’re the ideal starting point for making your own boyfriend jeans. They’re still tight around the waist and thighs, but ease up just enough around the knee and calves, making them ideal for a thin pair of boyfriend jeans that still show off your assets. So go ahead and pull out that old pair of sagging jeans from the back of your wardrobe and give them a nice little makeover with this simple tutorial:

Step 1:

You’ll need to snip the hem first. This is to prevent the jeans from becoming overly bulky when rolled. Cuff them slightly above our ankle and secure the cuff with a safety pin. Cut both hems at the bottom of the cuff after removing the jeans (don’t attempt to cut them while they’re still on your lazy butts!).

Step 2:

It’s now time to distress your jeans. Start with a tiny cut with your scissors for large tears around the knees. To enlarge the hole, use your butter knife. This knife is ideal for creating ragged edges. As the hole becomes larger, you may pull it out yourself. Create a couple of tiny slits with the scissors for minor distressed accents. Then rough up the holes using a sand paper block.

Step 3:

For the ideal boyfriend jeans, roll your denim 2-3 times. And that’s it!

Jeans are definitely old school in terms of fashion—they’re comfortable and go with everything. And boy, are they expensive! You can get a pair of Levi’s for a hundred and forty dollars, without a department store trying to sell you the latest model. That’s why I’m going to show you how to make your own jeans..
