We’ve all seen the YouTube beauty tutorials for applying makeup, but are you ready to take it to the next level? After a while applying makeup can become a stressful experience. For some, it can become difficult to tell if you’re an expert or still a novice, especially when applying your makeup for the first time.
Ever have a skin care and beauty product you loved but it didn’t do anything for your skin? Ever have a product that you thought was amazing and it wasn’t? In today’s post I’m going to show you how I apply makeup like a pro to really get that flawless look. I’ll also show you some makeup to avoid and some of my secrets to looking gorgeous.
While there are many ways to apply makeup, there’s nothing like learning from the pros. To learn from the pros, you need to be the pro. You need to feel like a pro. The internet is full of tutorials, but most of them are amateur videos of people who are not experts. The web is filled with videos of people who are not experts. The only way to learn what it takes to apply makeup like a pro is to learn from an expert.. Read more about how to apply makeup step by step for beginners and let us know what you think.
While there are many cosmetic trends to explore this year, no look is complete without the proper foundation. Because your face makeup serves as a blank canvas for your red lips or smoky eye, achieving a perfect appearance is crucial. So, with my friend Becca, I paid a visit to Benefit Cosmetics on Chestnut St., where we were fortunate enough to have their head cosmetic artist teach us the ropes. She took us through her makeup application technique step by step so that we could pass on her tips and tricks to you!
Step 1: Get ready.
It’s critical to prepare your skin with the basics before putting any kind of makeup on your face. For complete hydration, use a face lotion and an eye cream. Benefit’s Triple Performing Facial Emulsion was used here, and it’s a powerful product! Cream for the eyes.
Primer (Step 2)
Apply a primer with a flat foundation brush to provide a smooth basis on which to apply your foundation. I’ve just started using Makeup Forever HD Nourishing Primer and I’m really like how it moisturizes my face and gives me the ideal canvas to put my foundation on (plus it smells great!).
Liquid Foundation (Step 3)
Now it’s time for your first layer of makeup: foundation. This includes your BB Creams, Tinted SPF Moisturizers, and the like. I’ve recently become addicted to Urban Decay’s Naked Skin Weightless Ultra Definition Liquid Makeup. It’s full coverage without that heavy, cakey feel. Start at the center of your face and blending the product out & down using either a flat foundation brush or, my favorite, Sephora’s Flawless Airbrush. Apply the product in thin layers so you can build up if you want more coverage. If you’re looking for even more coverage, apply the product with a beauty sponge.
Step 4: Using a concealer
Only use concealer after you’ve applied your liquid foundation if you think you need more coverage. Using a concealer brush, make a triangle beneath your eyes and gently mix the product into the skin with your finger. Benefit’s Fake Up Undereye Hydrating Concealer is a hydrating concealer.
Translucent Powder (Step 5)
Sweep a little, translucent powder over your liquid foundation to set it. Apply Benefit’s POREfessional Agent Zero Shine with a fluffy powder brush for a subtle, flawless finish.
Step 6: Add a splash of color.
Apply a liquid highlighter to your cheekbones and mix with your finger or a fluffy powder brush (yes, you can blend liquid with a powder brush!). Benefit Sun Beam’s glowy effect is one of my favorites.
Step 7: Bronzer & Blush
Use a bronzer/blush combination for an everyday appearance. Apply it with a tiny powder brush just under your cheekbones and up along your hairline. Rockateur Box O’ Powder Blush is a rich rose hue that is ideal for the winter. To achieve a contour look, apply your bronzer first in the hollows of your cheekbones and around your hair and jawline. Then, just under your cheekbones, apply your blush. This is a fantastic application for more formal events.
Take a peek at the final result below. Isn’t Becca’s makeup perfect and natural at the same time?
